Petition

For the Formation of the Jeffco Library District

Pursuant to C.R.S. 24-90-101 et seq. and specifically C.R.S. 24-90-107(3)

 TO THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF JEFFERSON COUNTY, COLORADO, GREETINGS:

The undersigned registered electors of the proposed Jeffco Library District, hereby request that the Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners, pursuant to C.R.S. 24-90-101 et seq., cause the JEFFCO LIBRARY DISTRICT to be formed effective January 1, 2012, as follows:

  1. Request for Establishment (C.R.S. 24-90-107(3)(a)(I))-  the Jeffco Library District should be established from the existing Jefferson County Public Library, covering the same territory, and by use of the assets and subject to the obligations of the current Jefferson County Public Library.
  2. Establishing Governmental Unit (C.R.S. 24-90-107(3)(a()II))- Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners
  3. Name of the Proposed Library District (C.R.S. 24-90-107(3)(a)(III))-  JEFFCO LIBRARY DISTRICT
  4. Proposed Service Area  (C.R.S. 24-90-107(3)(a)(IV))- The boundaries of Jefferson County, Colorado, as currently served by the Jefferson County Public Library
  5. Specification of mill levy (C.R.S. 24-90-107(3)(a)(V))- Up to 3.5 mills property tax, with an initial levy for the year 2010 payable in 2011 of 3.5 mills, as determined by the Board of Trustees of the Library District and as approved by the voters of Jefferson County, Colorado in 1986.
